Health, fitness and getting in shape....

Where to start on this one....? I guess with me - I'm 5ft 3in and at the beginning of January 2016 11st 2lb.  Feeling fat, lethargic and not very pretty on the outside... this is why things need to change!  I want to live! I have to small daughters, a gorgeous hubby and want to spend a very long, happy, healthy and fun filled life with them! That's reasonable right? After all you only get one chance at life, so I intend to get this body in shape to take it on.  I've purchased a Fitbit which I intend to motivate me to get fit and lose some weight - essentially I want to look good and feel good, for me and my family.  Although the hubby declares his love for me all the time and has never negatively commented on my weight, I still want to look good for my man.

'Weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise' - I hear this phrase over and over, so as much as I'm in love with my Fitbit there is no getting away from the diet side.  I'm probably a typical 39 year old, I've tried various diets over the years - some with success but this was usually temporary.  So what I've learned from my past efforts is that diets don't work.  The changes that I need to make have to be sustainable, for example banning all chocolate, wine and carbs is not a long term 'diet' that I neither want or will work.  Therefore I've decided to take elements of previous 'diets' and use them together to make a new way of eating that is acceptable and doable for me.  I will aim for reduced carb, increased protein and good fats, limited processed foot, reduce alcohol and sugars.  I will have days where I go completely off plan - but I accept that, I'm no angel.   I'm going to use My Fitness Pal to track all my grub - please friend me if you're on there and I can share my exact diary with you, my profile name is 'snooziebunny'.

The exercise - I'm no gym bunny, in fact I like to lay in and snuggle on the settee, but I have set myself the challenge of walking, running, crawling, hopping 2016 miles in 2016.  The Fitibit will track my mileage, for those that don't know anything about this, its essentially a pedometer that you wear on your wrist, it tracks, steps, distance, calories, sleep, heart rate... and probably more that I've forgotten, it also has an app where you can do challenges with friends which is very motivational.  Fitbits app syncs with My Fitness Pal so its fantastic for accurate calorie counting.  Again if you want to be friends, here's my profile link....  https://www.fitbit.com/user/3S4MSM
